Problem Statement
Role: UX Designer , Duration: 1 week
How I have Started?
As I see in the problem statement, I am asked to redesign of windows 7 task manager. As per current situation, we have an advanced versions
of windows those are 8 and 10 task manager. Both 8 and 10 task managers are same. So, I tried to come up with a new task manager which
resolves the pain points of existing users of 7 and 8.
I see few things are resolved in windows 8 like changed the
priority of tabs
added few metrics to the Performance tab
grouping of processes
visual appearance.
Analysis:
I started comparing task mangers of windows 7, 8, 10 and observed few usability issues. I did the user analysis by dividing the people into
two user groups.
1. Technical people (who runs their laptop with more applications)
2. Non - Technical people (who runs their laptop for their personal usage)
User analysis:
I took the user interviews and identified pain points, goals, required features.
Competitive analysis:
I have taken the competitor as Mac and identified few interesting features those we can incorporate.
Feature analysis:
Finalized the features list from both user analysis, competitive analysis and prioritized on the basis of user analysis.
User stories:
I have made the user stories from the features list and identified the benefits of these to the user.
Wire framing:
I started paper sketches based on the user stories. Once I cracked the design, I have made the digital wireframes.
Usability test:
First I have validated designs with user stories and tested with user’s.
